Location: Rob Roy Track, Mt Aspiring National Park
Contract Value: $54,000
Project Completion Date: June 2010
Company: Department of Conservation
This project involved the upgrade of 1300m at the Rob Roy Track and included cut to fill earthworks, track reconstruction, blasting and drainage improvements. The blasting on this track was undertaken by Athol Elliott and was part of Murray McBain’s technical blasting training for the McKellar Saddle Track. Due to the restricted site access all drilling on this track had to be done using petrol hand held rock drills.
The remoteness of this track meant that the crew had to set up living quarters at the bottom of the track and walk 45min at the start and end of each day to get to the work site.
