This project involved replacing an existing AC watermain with a new 180OD PE watermain, connections, valves and hydrants in Kew Road, Invercargill.
We selected to use the trenchless method of pipe bursting to replace the AC watermain. We worked with KB Contractors on this. The pipeline was pressure tested, disinfected and commissioned using our own staff and resources.
The new pipe line was Butt Fusion welded using our own qualified staff and resources. The pipeline was pressure tested, disinfected and commissioned using our own staff and resources.
The reinstatement was carried out to ICC and NZTA requirements.
This project affected many members of the public from motorists tolandowners. The project was managed by our own staff including HandS and environmental, traffic management, and liaison with public.
Pre work planning included audits of the site to identify risks and to ensure a process for managing risk was implemented. Staff undertook weekly tailgate forms to identify any new hazards or to confirm a safer process for existing hazards.
