Location: Jacks Point, Queenstown
Contract Value: $1.9 million
Project Completion Date: February 2019
Company: Jacks Point
The project included installing a new pump station, rising main and wastewater gravity line.
The pump station location was selected specifically so it would allow the wastewater upstream reticulation systems to gravitate down towards the pump station. A wastewater rising main conveys waste from the pump station to a discharge wastewater manhole. A gravity line connects this terminal manhole to the receiving manhole located on a neighbouring pump station. A specific drainage aggregate was required for around the storage tanks which Wilsons produced at their own quarry at Fairlight. The pump station excavation required specific fill which a portion of the excavated material was unsuitable. We worked with the client to find an onsite dump location and areas to borrow fill from, passing on significant savings to the client. Using GPS controlled excavators, ensured no over excavation and reduced the requirement to enter the excavation to check heights. In-house GPS and total station capabilities were able to align the tanks and the pump station to within 15mm accuracy.
